Jan 2016 update from Australia

First of all, apologies for the lack of updates on here. I've been locked out of the website for a while which has been difficult to get resolved! I'm back in now and there will be plenty more updates coming! I hope you have had a great start to 2016. My year has started out well and very positive. I was given the all clear in late December to ride again, after breaking my back and lacerating my liver in July 2015. I have been back in Australia since early Jan, and I've managed to get plenty of track time since I've been here. I ran 7 coaching days at my local track Mac Park, with Josh Waters and Jed Metcher attending as a guest coaches. These were great days and it's an awesome opportunity to be able provide coaching to other riders and give something back to the local riding community. I've got some good laps in my self also, along with doing a track day at Mallala in Adelaide. I'm feeling as good on a bike as I ever have and can't wait to get going again in the British Championship for 2016.

This season I am competing in the British Supersport Class. The Supersport Evo class that I was in last season is no longer, so we are all in the main Supersport Championship. This means we are up against the main factory and larger teams. It will be a huge challenge to be competitive against these guys, as we don't have the financial backing to get some of the electronics and parts that the bigger teams will have. But none the less, my self and the team at CPE Motosport are working harder than ever to be as competitive as possible. I feel that last year we were fighting above where we expected to be at the start of the season. We showed as a team that we can fight up the front when we had an even bike. So I feel that there is no reason this year that we can show some great pace and still come away with some really good results. If we can perform well with the bike we have, I think that will show that the team and my self are still stepping it up.

This weekend I am heading over to New Zealand to compete at the 'Sound of Thunder' at Mike Pero Motorsport Park, Ruapuna, in Christchurch. I am riding this Ducati V twin 900 engine in a custom built bike. I'd like to thank the bike builder, Shane Madden, for asking me to race his bike, and to thank him for putting the whole weekend together for me. It will be great to get a few no pressure races under my belt before the season starts in England to get back in to the groove again.

Finally, I'd like to thank everyone who has supported me for this season so far. Without my sponsors and 'Levi Day Supporters Club' I couldn't be racing in the British Championship. In addition to my sponsors and supporters, my family are a huge help to continue my racing career, along with working for the teams business, Cobra Precision Engineering, during the week as a machinist, to earn a living to assist in continue following my racing dream. If you are able to support in any way for 2016 I greatly appreciate any help. To find out more information on sponsorship or joining the 'Levi Day Supporters Club' you can find it here in the 'Support' section of this website.

I look forward to everything that lies ahead in the coming weeks and months, and thanks for coming along for the ride!

Cheers
